I acquired a 3016ps today which I was told had a leak behind the battery, ok no hoses there but maybe the tank had a hole. Either way the price was right and I can change the tank or hoses if needed. Probably gonna do the hoses anyway like I just did to my 3018ps. Sure enough everything is dry behind the battery, no leak there.

Well I found the leak...coming out of the top of the steering column! See pic. I haven’t started to tear into it yet but anyone have any thoughts. I thought maybe someone “lubed” the column, but nope after cleaning it off and a few more spins around the yard, she’s a steady hydraulic leak!

It’s actually not that crazy after you look at the steering pump diagram. There has to be a bad seal or seals somewhere in the top, which would let oil out right under the steering wheel.
I just power washed the tractor, once it’s dry, I’ll start draining the hydraulics and pulling the motor so I can get to that pump. Good time to replace some hoses too!
