Do you really need the tire rod? :sidelaugh:
When I was in my early 20's, I worked in an Imperial Oil service station. One Sunday morning, this guy wheels his Studebaker onto our lot and tells me that his steering feels weird. I put the Stude on the hoist and found that the tie rod end on the right wheel had fallen off, thus leaving that wheel to track on its own. He refused to make arrangements to leave the car with us. We couldn't repair it because all of the parts suppliers were close. We were essentially open to sell gas and perhaps repair the odd tire. No way could I talk him out of driving the car and off he went with the wheel wobbling back and forth.
He was a menace looking for a place to have an accident so I called the cops and gave them the lowdown on make/model/color and plate number. The cop that i was talking to didn't seem too interested and thought that this was just sour grapes. I asked for his name and badge number and he gave them up. i then told him that if this guy gets into an accident and hurts or kills someone, then I will report him (the cop) for failing to get this vehicle off the road. His attitude suddenly changed and presumably they sent out the word to watch for this car.
