Case Colt Ingersoll Tractors banner

Another Texas entry

In early 2009, I ran across an Ingersoll 6018 loader on the local Craigslist. It looked intriguing, but I was not familiar with the brand (not many of these things make it down here to Texas). I googled around to do some research and found the MTF and Yahoo sites. I searched for information on the 6018 and quickly decided it was a good deal.
Like many of you, I caught the Colt/Case/Ingersoll bug. Reading, researching, and learning has become a very rewarding diversion from the day-to-day stresses of life. Unlike other things that catch my interest, the “new” never wore off and I continue to visit the forums and learn. There can be a lot of good information, but it is often buried in a lot of noise. I quickly learned who to ignore and who to pay attention to. For me, one of the “must read” guys is Tom Arnold. Whenever Tom stopped posting in other forums, it seemed like someone poked a hole in the forum and let a whole lot of smart out.
I appreciate his thoroughness and distinct writing style. Tom takes a topic, distills it down into key points, asks smart questions to fill in context, and wraps his responses in entertaining and informative prose. A rare skill.
Oh, yeah, he sometimes steps on a few toes.
OK, he sometimes steps on all your toes.
OK, OK, he sometimes runs over you.
Solution-wear a hard hat and steel toed boots, and come prepared to learn.
With the team assembled here, it can’t help but succeed.
Thanks for the site.

BOY DID YOU PEG T.A. correctly!! WOW......but yes, might run over you, but info will be right on.

Glad you found it over too!! Bob M
Sniff, sniff......... I don't know quite how to respond to those beautiful words, Dan....other then to say. "I love you, man." and I'm wiping tears from my eyes. :sidelaugh:
Hey Dan, have seen you at a few places, glad to see you here too, awesome write up on Tom, very accurate, that's why we all respect him so much.
That's probably the one and only time I'm ever going to "Thank" someone for an introduction post.
Hey Dan,
Great to see you here too you still in the DFW area or have you come down south some. Thought I saw elsewhere you migh be further south. Anyway we ought to get together some time to have a regional show or at least get a good start on Deere season.
Gentlemen,
Thanks for your comments. I see a lot of familiar names and faces here. Others I haven’t worked out just yet. I am kind of a private guy so I don't interact a lot with other members. As a result, unless you use a similar screen name on other forums, it takes me awhile to figure out who is who (whom?). Anyway, I appreciate your contributions on other forums and I didn't mean to slight anyone in my introductory post.

You probably won't see too many posts from me because I prefer empirical data over guesses and speculation. If you have questions about a 6018, HRM48H 3-point finish mower, HT41 Tiller, or K-31 Splitter, I am happy to help, but if you have questions about a 224, I have never actually seen one, so I will pass and let the been-there-done-that guys answer.

Snot- Thanks for stepping out and starting your forum. I know it was a lot of work, and you must have had been conflicted about shutting down. With the pedigree assembled here, I think you made the right decision. A Win-Win for everyone.

Bob M. - I appreciate your work on the other forums. You provide solid advice and are the genteel counterpoint to Tom’s occasionally acerbic persona.

Tom – I would think by now you must be really pleased at the response and group of guys showing up here. It says a lot about the need, timing, and drivers behind this site.

Drew – I have enjoyed your posts on other forums. You have a special gift for turning a smooth running thread into a 50-GT tractor pile-up. But, it sure makes for some interesting reading. Keep at it.

Galen - I am up in Conroe, TX. I was concerned about you last year when you were negotiating with Bart and other foreigners about going up north to pick up some attachments. I was fearful you might wake up in the bathtub at a cheap motel missing your tractors, and a kidney. Glad you made it back safe.

New Guys – If you are new to Colt/Case/Ingersoll tractors, then you have found the right place. Look around, do some research, and learn. Make sure you get to know the personalities. There are some really bright guys here. You are also blessed with dealers like Brian Hildreth (bhildret). Brian, like the rest of us, is trying to make a living in a tough economy. But he is also passionate about the machines and quick to suggest cost effective options (even if it means losing business). Get to know him, and patronize his business when you can. He is one of the good guys.

You may see comments about this Tom guy and think he is some kind of Ogre. It's all in fun. I think. Although, I heard W.C. Fields once described Tom as "a personality as fragrant as a bouquet of @ss holes." I'm sure he meant that in the nicest possible way.

To the Old Timers- you do realize we have all been caught up in a diabolical scheme. In the past, Mr. Tom was in a position where HE could be banned from a site. Now, he can ban US. ANY of US. All of US. At the same time. With one click of a mouse. Now he has the attitude and his finger on the DELETE button. Where will it all end?

I take that as a compliment, thank you for noticing. :trink: Funny how evry time there is one of those pile-ups, it's usually me that ends up bleeding.

Great to have you here with us!!!

That's how I've been feeling these days.

You've pretty much found a one-stop CCI Forum. We might not be Biggest.

To Me a small diamond has more value than a Giant Zircon.

All jesting aside for the moment, I am thrilled beyond words at the support that I have received from everyone here, save and except one recent member. You are absolutely right about the timing issue. I also believe that I made the right decision when I partnered with Jack initially and then brought Charles into the fold. Each of us bring own own strengths to the site and what you see is the result of that combination. It has been my belief for some time that the other forums were just not delivering what was needed. I had my own vision and got the help I needed to bring it to reality.

In truth, there is very little to fear from me. You do not see Moderator under my screen name. That job has been delegated to my partner Jack and Brad. They are here to keep me in line just like anyone else. We want everyone to have a good time here but most of all we want them to learn how to better care for their tractors and keep them alive. So please, relax and get on with posting in the forums.

Thanks once again to everyone for joining.
