In early 2009, I ran across an Ingersoll 6018 loader on the local Craigslist. It looked intriguing, but I was not familiar with the brand (not many of these things make it down here to Texas). I googled around to do some research and found the MTF and Yahoo sites. I searched for information on the 6018 and quickly decided it was a good deal.
Like many of you, I caught the Colt/Case/Ingersoll bug. Reading, researching, and learning has become a very rewarding diversion from the day-to-day stresses of life. Unlike other things that catch my interest, the “new” never wore off and I continue to visit the forums and learn. There can be a lot of good information, but it is often buried in a lot of noise. I quickly learned who to ignore and who to pay attention to. For me, one of the “must read” guys is Tom Arnold. Whenever Tom stopped posting in other forums, it seemed like someone poked a hole in the forum and let a whole lot of smart out.
I appreciate his thoroughness and distinct writing style. Tom takes a topic, distills it down into key points, asks smart questions to fill in context, and wraps his responses in entertaining and informative prose. A rare skill.
Oh, yeah, he sometimes steps on a few toes.
OK, he sometimes steps on all your toes.
OK, OK, he sometimes runs over you.
Solution-wear a hard hat and steel toed boots, and come prepared to learn.
With the team assembled here, it can’t help but succeed.
Thanks for the site.
