Case 444 hydraulic line

Went and got a new line made today that goes from the pump to the valve on a case 444. Does it need thread sealant on the fittings?

For me I don't add sealant. The fittings are tapered and really don't need that. I have on occasions though added some for lubrication, rather than sealant but not of hydraulic fittings.
No, one end has an o-ring and the other is a flare fitting. Now when you do have a pipe thread hydraulic fitting they make a pipe sealer specifically for high pressure, not the normal plumbing stuff.

Ok. But I don’t need it for my hose?

Ok. where do you get that high pressure sealant anyway?

I got mine at Fleet Farm. I would expect other places like Tractor Supply would have it. Or, Amazon:)

The 90 degree fitting is straight thread and the O ring seals against the undercut surface on the pump. Make sure that the undercut on the pump is clean. Just apply some oil to the threads and O ring. The other end is a female flare fitting that threads onto the male flare fitting on the travel control valve or if the tractor has a rear hydraulic PTO, then it will connect to the tube going to the PTO. Just add some oil to it and tighten. Note that the flare fitting on the hose has a hex area as part of the crimp. This is there so an open end wrench can be placed on it and while tightening the flare nut the hose can be held to prevent it from twisting as the flare nut is tightened.

After I rebuilt a K241 (new piston, rings,ex valve, governor, etc) for one of my 220's, I took the tractor out in front of my house on the pavement and promptly blew about 4 quarts of oil all over the street.Amazing how much and how fast that oil came out. That was the offending hose I believe.
