Hello guys,

I have a 1981 446… The choke cable retainer clip is broken. And which I am now tried removing the air cleaner lid off and manually pulling the choke on to start this tractor. I have seen some guys put screws through the bottom of air cleaner housing into the broken clip to try and hold the choke cable in place…that seem SO SO tacky. :facepalm: :thumbdown:

I have contacted Brian @ Salem Power Equipment to order this part. I want to thank Brian for all his efforts on trying to locate one for me but this part was discontinued by Ingersoll and Onan. He was even unable to get one from his other sources or networks of dealers.

He suggested going on one of the many great forums out there. And see if there is anyone that has a good used one and would be willing to sell it? My thought was to try this forum first. :headscratcher:

I am looking for part C20407 RETAINER - choke cable as per the clip from page 5 in Parts Catalog No. B-1242.

So is there anyone that has one of these clips and would be willing to sell it to me?

I have never liked that clip! What I have usually done when one comes up missing or broken is adapt a choke or throttle clamp from a Kohler. I like the security of having a screw instead of just spring tension.

Plastic zip tie might get you by till you locate one.Try Joes Outdoor Power on E-Bay.Browse all makes ,not just Case.Probably used on another manufacturers machine,or something that will work.Good luck.Kevin

Is the Case# C20407 choke retainer clip the same as an Onan# 518-0328?

Is there a cross reference between the Case p/n and the Onan p/n?

in reference to what others have said about problems with this clip.
i have used a 6/32 bolt for over 27 years on mine, no problem
(to keep the cable tight in the clip)
this bolt will be included.

Boomer may have a better alternative for the choke cable clip pictured. I recommend you send him a PM or call and inquire about Nikki carb choke cable brackets.
