Combine wheel weights

I seen on a C/L ad someone was parting out a JD combine. I asked if the wheel weights were still there because the engine and tranny had already been sold. He said yes so I drove there and had to remove them from the wheels in a hedgerow where the combine sat. I ended up getting two outside weights at a scrap price rate. The seller owned a maple syrup farm and ended up buying some fresh maple syrup. It was a great day. ✌. Harry

That’s a nice score. I got last year and think I got the inside ones as well. The inside ones don’t look as heavy though. I put an outside one on my plow and fell off in the middle of the yard, it’s still there lol

The inside ones were not on the combine and I looked around for them in the pile of junk but didn’t see them. The inside are two piece that bolt together and I believe are about 50 lbs each. I read that to use them on the inside you need wheel spacers to clear the hydraulic motor. Maybe someone will chime in to confirm that. ✌. Harry
Actually if the original combine rims are 15 inch, and not 16 inch rims, Plus 6 bolt hubs, you want those rims. They are basically what the 60xx used for the 29 x12.50x 15 tires..

The combine weights were mounted on special 15" rims. Those rims are the only 15" rim that they will fit. The inners, two-piece, were mounted on the normal side of the 15" rim. The outer weight is deep, so the rim is already built with the offset for that. My initial assessment is, they will bolt right up. But, the rear track is going to be very wide compared to stock.

Scott good to know about the combine rims. I plan on using the weights on my 646 that has 16” rims deep dish that were originally off a Kubota. I’ll post some pics after they are mounted. I started cleaning them and painting them yesterday. ✌ Harry

I managed to get a set of inner and outer last summer locally here in Pennsylvania. I was shocked when they popped up on Facebook. I believe I paid $300 for the set. I was ready to order them from out west and have them shipped too so I got really lucky.

I have the outers on my diesel swap 446. They fit really nice with some 5" carriage bolts I think. The inners I plan on using on my 446 for mowing. It has calcium filled tires now but one of the valve stems are leaking. I'm gonna swap them onto a 444 I have and gonna sell and keep all my machines using wheel weights.

I'll be trying the inners on the inside of the wheel so I'll let you know what I find when I do it.
