I found this fellow http://www.restorationdecals.co.uk and he quoted me about $22 plus shipping for these

Has anyone had there engine decals reproduced with there serial number by another decal supplier?
I can't seem to find hood decals for my 86 224, Brian Hidret was able to give me one side only the other side is no longer available. I will take the one I have and have the other side reproduced from it if I can not find it.

Here's what I suggest.

The final decision is up to you.

Contact Tony Giletto at Maple Hunter decals in Texas. Tell Tony that you have an OEM hood decal for your tractor. Ask him if he would like you to ship it to him so he can create that decal in his software. I'm betting that Tony will say yes. I'm also betting that Tony will send you the mate you need at no cost for helping him.

I think that Tony is also making the engine decals you displayed. You might want to ask him about those at the same time. If you decide to do this, let us know how you made out. OK ????

I sent Maple Hunter an email twice with no responce, the email included pictures of what I was looking for as well as a description. I then purchased the instrument panel decal through his website, it arrived a few days ago.

So I have given up on him to make these.

I'm very happy with the decal he sent me though

I have a call in for Tony and I'm expecting him to return it tomorrow or Thursday.

How about this?

If I can set this up for you, will you do it?

You obviously realize that by doing this, you will be helping other owners that need those decals.

I have no issue with sending them to him and having him reproduce them and then sell them by the thousands and I do not expect my set for free either. I just want my originals back and the oppurtunity to purchase a set.

I would consider this as a favour to me, not the other way around.

Is the hood decal you have either one of the thin stripe "INGERSOLL" decals (either P/N C27962 or P/N C27964)? If so, those are also decals I've been looking for and would be very interested in them being reproduced to help finish a restoration I've been doing on my '86 446. The thin hood stripes are the same for the 224 and 446, based on the data in the parts manuals.

CASE 220/4 -

Completely understand the "busy" part!! Went to CT on Monday, flew back to O'Hare on Tuesday, got home just in time for my head to hit the pillow, woke up and time for work again! No hurries for me and I remember you working a decal project yourself. Interested to see what Jonathan has too, as the thin stripe decals are practically impossible to find.

The first decal shown is the "thin stripe" hood decal that many owners of the transitional, dual badged "Case/Ingersoll" tractors are looking for. I believe they only used them for a year or two before all the badging and decals went to all "Ingersoll". They are currently not reproduced and there is not a source for them in the Ingersoll parts inventory. You're lucky you found one.

A set could be made by someone with the right equipment like MapleHunter, who could scan that in, then electronically cut and move the INGERSOLL to the other end of the stripe to make one for the other side of the hood, giving you a new set. I would definitely be interested in purchasing a set, if reproduced.

Hydriv has not gotten back to me yet probably because Maple Hunter has not got back to him.
In any case I will get the complete hood set reproduced and make them available to this forums membership either the decals themselves or some sort of CAD drawing so that a person could take it to a printer.

Actually, I made contact with Tony's wife yesterday and she told me that he is just like the rest of us. He holds down a full time job. The decal business is a sideline. I was supposed to call him back last night but I missed the window because I got distracted with all this Drew crap.

I called again at 6 tonight and got Tony's young lad. He gave me a new time and I will try again. I don't know how urgently you need the decals but if you can be patient for a day or two more, I should have an answer.

I spoke with Tony a few minutes ago. We talked about your needs for these decals. If you are absolutely positive that Tony does not have this decal you need, he told me that getting a OEM decal into his hands is the best method for him to provide a perfect copy.

So, by all means, ship whatever OEM decals you have that apply to your tractor. Tell him the serial number of it so he can pinpoint which parts book those decals belong in. Tell him what you want reproduced and he will get it done for you. From this point, it's in your hands. The sooner you ship the decals to him, the quicker you will get them back along with what you need. And by the way, Tony does make the Kohler engine decals you sourced from the guy across the pond.

Jon, the decal that Brian sent you is for what side of the hood? Im pretty sure that the style of decal you are referring too came in two different "styles" for the RH side of the hood. One for the hoods that had the cut out for the Kohler air cleaner and the other for the hood that did not have the cut out. Im willing to bet that C/I made one decal for that side and then just cut the decal where it goes over the cut out. Just let Tony know this and let him know that we can provide pics of how it looks on the years it was used. My 86 used the same style and I am hopefully getting some made up on Sunday. The downside to mine is that the machine can only do one color. So if I want the word INGERSOLL in white with a black outline then I must make a slightly larger INGERSOLL decal and put the white one over it. This is my only option at this point unless Tony can re create the decal. Please keep us posted and get that one shipped out to him. Thanks

I agree, the basic hood decal design was the same for all models durng this period. All models used exactly the same P/N decal for the left hand side decal, a different P/Ns (variants) for the right hand side. The difference between the two RH decals would have likely been the cutout for the Koehler air cleaner (Onan powered models had no cutout - solid stripe both sides). You can still accomplish this with a solid stripe for either side, by cutting out the portion on the Koehler powered models you don't need.

Here's the breakdown -

P/N C27962 - Left Hand Hood Decal

Koehler Powered Models

220 - S/N 14054525 thru 14091130 and 14091130 thru 14107095

222 - S/N 14055920 thru 14092090 and 14092090 thru 14108205

224 - S/N 14057730 thru 14093065 and 14093065 thru 14109285

444 - S/N 14059200 thru 14094825 and 14094825 thru 14111340

Onan Powered Models

226 - S/N 14058070 thru 14094020 and 14094020 thru 14110325

446 - S/N 14060735 thru 14096200 and 14096200 thru 14112435

448 - S/N 14062610 thru 14097625 and 14097625 thru 14113810

P/N C27963 - Right Hand Hood Decal (likely included air cleaner cutout)

Koehler Powered Models

220 - S/N 14054525 thru 14091130 and 14091130 thru 14107095

222 - S/N 14055920 thru 14092090 and 14092090 thru 14108205

224 - S/N 14057730 thru 14093065 and 14093065 thru 14109285

444 - S/N 14059200 thru 14094825 and 14094825 thru 14111340

P/N C27964 - Right Hand Hood Decal (soild stripe - no cutout)

Onan Powered Models

226 - S/N 14058070 thru 14094020 and 14094020 thru 14110325

446 - S/N 14060735 thru 14096200 and 14096200 thru 14112435

448 - S/N 14062610 thru 14097625 and 14097625 thru 14113810

Both CASE 220/4 and myself have been trying to chase these down for awhile now, and if there is a way to reproduce this, I'm definitely interested and would be willing to be a part of an initial order.

Jonathan should consider taking your order for the decals at the time he mails his OEM set to Tony.

The best way to handle it would be for Jonathan to include your individual contact info - "name, shipping, address, phone #, e-mail address along with EXACTLY what decals you want and a mention as to how you intend to pay" . Tony can then make contact with each of you, quote the price with the shipping and take payment. He can then mail out individual sets to each of you.

That method removes all the middle-men.

I agree, that would be a great way to do it. I have ordered from MapleHunter before, so he should have my payment info on file.

Jonathan - I'll send you a PM with my shipping info, if you don't mind including it along with your order? MapleHunter could bill me directly for another set of hood stripes only? I have a 446, so the 224 decal I would not need.

FYI... I purchased a new set of 1983/84 decals from maple hunter and I compared them to my nos set and the only difference was the lettering/numbering on the repo's were slightly larger than the originals. Great quality work though.

Thought I would provide an update on this, as there have been some recent developments.

One of our very own, "Jonathan", was generous enough to contribute his NOS, early Ingersoll hood stripe for reproduction. This is the same decal shown earlier in this message string and represents the "thin hood stripe" style. These particular hood decals were the first to wear the INGERSOLL name and appeared on early Case/Ingersoll tractors as they began to introduce a change in brand recognition. Tractors of this era were initially dual-badged with both Case and Ingersoll on them. These decals are impossible to find. They're not available through Ingersoll anymore and are currently not being commercialy reproduced. Many who have wanted them, had to settle for decals from other years or not use any at all.

I received the package late last week from Jonathan and have since made contact with MapleHunter. They are very interested in reproducing it, so I plan to submit to them this week, along with the model application data. From the original, MapleHunter should be able to reproduce both the left and right-hand side for a complete hood decal set. More to come an I'll be sure to keep everyone up to date on the timeframe for availability.

Let's all give a huge thanks to Jonathan!
