Just saw this on CL. First one I've ever seen.

FS:Case Hydraulic Tiller - $600 (Maine)

I have an early F70 Case tiller for sale. It's in good shape...no leaks or broken parts. It is on a 1969 444 tractor .I have the front mounted tiller controls and the sleeve hitch. The control system will not mount on a newer tractor that has the rubber mounted engine without modification.May consider selling tiller by itself, but would prefer selling whole setup to someone with an older Case 442-446.Tractor is not part of the package!!!!Date stamp is wrong in photo...picture is new.Make me an offer....garden season is upon us!

Yes Bill, this is the H17 PTO used on early 200/400 series. A friend of mine had one on his 1971 444. According to Hydriv, the 446s went to the rear mount style when they were introduced in 1972 (no place to mount it on an Onan) and the Kohler powered tractors went to the rear mount in 1973 when the engines were first iso-mounted. Thanks Tom for the clarification on the years for the change.

You are welcome, John. If we are going to be totally accurate, the first PTO's that were side-mounted like the one in the photo were F-17. I believe that the F-17's were used in 1969 and 1970 but for 1971 and 1972....the H-17 model was employed. When the PTO was moved behind the seat, they became the J-17 kit.

Does anyone have an idea for the value of this PTO? I have been talking to the owner and want the tiller, but I don't need the PTO and hitch. If I buy the package, would anyone be interested in either of those items?

There isn't what I would call....a high demand for that PTO but it should be worth $100.00 all day long. It is more of a collector item to be added to a period correct show tractor, in my opinion.

The sleeve hitch should work with later models with the short wheelbase. It too should be worth $100.00 if it is in good shape.

I figured as much. The guy has everything priced at full market value and maybe a little more. If I am successful in the haggling, I would love to see the PTO go to someone that would use it on a tractor that it was intended.

Thanks for the info.
