Hello all curious to learn what is a effective agent to remove the exhaust carbon build up on case hoods.

Hello kitchenguy,

I used Simple Green on my whole 3016 last month and it is some amazing cleaner that removed oily dirt buildup and most everything else. Sprayed on , left for about 5-10 minutes then sprayed off with a nozzle on the garden hose. Really looks good now. And the product is supposed to be biodegradable.

I agree with Capt. Dan, I've used it on tools, engines, farm equipment and even on my pipe (I smoke a pipe once in awhile). Being biodegradable and hearing from fellow smokers I think it's great stuff and highly recommend "Simple Green" ,so far I've also never seen it damage paint jobs even on white.

Depends on the age and depth of the carbon/soot. I've had to paint more than one when Purple Power and Simple Green failed. But they are worth a try before grabbing the sandpaper and paint gun.
