When you're posting pictures to this site (or any site that has attachments disabled) what you're doing is pulling the image from a remote source other than this site/webserver.
This keeps bandwidth costs a lot lower than it would be with attachments turned on.
In order to remotely link pictures from another site you need to use a bit of html code. The code is as follows.

Code:
[img]http://www.yourpicturelinkhere.com[/img]
Here are a list of sites that I personally trust and have used for various things in the past. Most of them will organize all of your pictures into a nice album and you can post them as many times as you want and in as many threads as you want.

I am set up and able to link to photobucket but I don't bring up four boxes only two. The "IMG" box doesn't come up for me. Charles and TomG pointed out that I have to tag the IMG link, box #4 but it doesn't come up on Photobucket for me. Can anyone help? What the heck am I doing wrong? Thanks. :222: Best Regards, Rich

Do you see where I circled the box with the code in this picture? What does yours look like?

You can always insert the IMG tags yourself.

In your first post in this thread here --> viewtopic.php?f=7&t=114

You posted the following link.

http://s1099.photobucket.com/albums/g396/Ingersollman/

If you insert the IMG code it should look like this.

Code:
[img]http://s1099.photobucket.com/albums/g396/Ingersollman[/img]
If you're missing any part of the brackets [ or ] it won't work.

I had a nightmare about that thread.
Alright. I finally got it.  :trink: I clicked on the picture itself and brought up all four boxes and brought in the text in the image one. Thank you Charles for your patience and vote of support Jack. You guys are doing a great job and should be proud of your work and the forum. :222: Best Regards, Rich

Stewart/Group: Here's how I did Photo bucket:
1.Establish Photo bucket account. Record password. Create a shortcut on desktop.
2.Create an album.
3. Hit upload. It will ask you where to place your pics.
3. Hit select photos and videos. It will head right into your PC and you can find what you want to download to Photo bucket.
5. Once you download to Photo bucket hit save them. They will now be available in Photo bucket whenever you want.
6. Keep your album open.Make photo bucket into a (smaller) minimized frame. Have your CCI post frame ready minimized too. Put them side by side.
7.Click on a picture in Photo bucket and then hit Share.
8. Then hit the second tab for "get link code"
9. On the box "IMG for bulletin boards" highlight in the box http.........etc. Make sure you get it all.
10. Drag and drop it into your post. It may take a couple of times. If you hit preview, the picture will be there in the preview if it worked. That's how I did it!
It probably could be done better but this worked for my simple mind!!!!!!

I've found it easier and quicker to use imageshack. It doesn't require you to create an account with yet another login/password to remember, and so won't expire your account -- which makes makes your pictures unavailable down the road (the latter is why I don't like photobucket).

Go to imageshack (link above).
Click "Browse"
Find the pic on your PC and select it
Click "Upload"
Use the "Direct Link" result with the forum's IMG button to put it in your post

TIP: If you have a huge picture that needs to be large to show detail, try posting a thumbnail: "Forum Thumbnail". That will show a small clickable picture in your post which when clicked will expand to full size. That makes for faster viewing by other members, especially if it's in a long thread and/or quoted by someone else.

i have created an album in photobucket using the instructions above as best as i can follow them. when i get to the "share" part, is where i'm stuck. it does not seem to offer me the option of entering "the code" in any way. (step 9 doesn't seem to be happening.) the drag and drop part, compleatly not happening. what am i missing?

Go to Photobuckt

select the album that has the photos you wish to place in a thread on this forum

select the photo by running your mouse over that photo and a drop down or raise up box will appear.

glide your mouse to the IMG code in that box and then click on it.

You will see the box "wink" at you briefly and that tells you that you have captured the code.

Then go to the thread on this site that you are in the midst of creating. Place your mouse where you want the image to appear and LEFT click it first so that the cursor is placed there and is blinking at you. Then use your mouse to go to that same spot again and this time RIGHT click on the spot and hit PASTE. The link should now appear exactly where you wanted it to be.

You can use your ENTER key to move it down the page or use the DELETE key to move that line of code up the page.

Finish typing your message and then hit PREVIEW ..

Your text and photo should now appear directly above the box you were typing in. If you are happy with what you see, then hit SUBMIT and you are done.
