Hi on my 444 I just got a few weeks ago the drain plug allen head is rounded and looks to be rusted in. It seems to be threaded all the way in beyond flush. I would not be surprised if has not been off in a very long long time if ever by looking at the plug. There really is not enough room to try to weld a nut on while its on the tractor. So any suggestions on plug removal or is there another way to drain the fluid out, maybe with removing one of the hoses? thanks:headscratcher:

If you have the rear hydraulic PTO you can drain it out using that. Otherwise you are looking at a range of options for removing the plug such as the ones listed above. You might think about just looking on Ebay for awhile for a decent used TCV. I've seen some go fairly cheaply and they are pretty much compatible across a 30 year span.

Just wondering, are you just looking to change the oil? If so, cracking a line as indicated works well,

If you're looking at rebuilding the valve, I think I would weld an allen wrench onto it, using an allen wrench that fits an impact driver, "note its not an impact wrench" The impact driver I use for really tough jobs, is the type you hold in your hand, apply a bit of rotation pressure onto the wrench, and then you smack the end of the wrench with a hammer. The impact wrench is designed so that when you smack it, it gives a hard torque to whatever direction you're torquing it. I've gotten many bolts out that were stubborn like this,, A couple of weeks ago, I was taking a spare TCV apart,, for "overhaul" and that's the only way I could get that puppy out of there.
