I think that he'll be hard pressed to get his asking price. It's not that there's anything wrong with an Odyssey but he is batting brand recognition with the Ingersoll name to begin with and then those who do know the brand, expect a Power Red tractor. Realistically speaking, it's worth what he's asking if it has been well-maintained.

A lot of bang for the buck there. If it has been taken care of, someone will get a modern, refined tractor that should last another 20+ years for half the price of new tin junk. I've spent time in the seat of an Odyssey and really liked it considering the owner only paid $3500 for it brand new. There must be a bunch of those in my area, because the local dealer bought a bunch of them from dealers who couldn't sell them and quickly found homes for all of them. IMHO, those were the best garden tractor value available at the time they were built.

Unfortunately for him, there's a lot of people out there who have no clue about the tractor he's trying to sell and that's why I said that he would have a hard time getting his asking price. Sadly, it appears that no one even called him, came to see it and made an offer and so now he's dropped the price by a third. It's a smokin' deal at $600.00. Imagine if this was a twelve year old 226 that sold for $4000.00 new. Would that be worth only $600.00? If you ever wanted to own a nice Lo Pro...there's a super deal.

I agree Tom, and if I were looking for a daily use tractor right now I'd jump on it. I'm not sure of production numbers but I would have to place these in the "future collectible" category which might make it worthy of some sprucing up (not sure I'd do a full resto, they're only original once) to preserve for a later time, or just use as is and enjoy a quality machine for pennies on the dollar. Ad has been deleted so I hope someone here got it.

You should go and see it in person, give it try and then show him 5 Benji's. You will go home with it on the trailer. If you have nagging doubts, check the parts manual section. You will find the Odyssey there because I have the manual. Compare it to any 200 series or even a 3000.

yes and no.

First of all, they did not come with hydrostatic drive. They used the same Hy driv system that the 3000's used. I suppose that you might describe them as a stripped down 3014 because they did use a 14 hp Vanguard that was reverse mounted to the old 200's but they did not have the fenders that came down to the foot rests.

They used the same rear axle and front axle. Therefore, you could put a HH-34 three point on the back, add a rear PTO or a sleeve hitch.

Yes, Dave, I would call them a "stripped down" 3014. Just a gray 3014 with 200 series fenders and a cheaper seat. The major difference, though, is that when the 3000/4000 series had the lifetime TOP warranty, the Odyssey warranty was 2 or 3 years, I'm don't remember which. The 316LGT and the 318LGT were the ones with the true hydrostatic trans, driven by belt.

Well, it followed me home this morning.... It wouldn't start so he dropped the price to $450, I got it home and charged the battery, added fuel, primed the pump and it started right up!, it definetly needs a tune up, (I don't think it has run in a loooong time) but seems to run out fine..

Spend a bit of time on it along with a few bucks for the obvious things. Buy a can of SeaFoam and put half of that into fuel tank along with fresh regular gas. Once you get it running smoothly, take it for a test drive and let us know what you think of it.
