Lovejoy changes

I was looking for a Lovejoy coupling set for my broken 446 online. I need an 1 1/8" x 9/16" L-099 with a Buna-N insert. Both Grainger and Surplus Center have discontinued L-099 series couplings in inch sizes. They have replaced them with the L-100 series.Same diameter, much greater torque capacity. They are about 3/4" longer....is the additional length going to be a problem? The shaft on my B-W pump is barely long enough for an L-099 coupling half as it is. Are there any more places to look for these parts.....I found the right one sitting on the shelf gathering dust at a local power transmission distributor...but they want over $100 for the damn thing :wtf: The L-100 set at surplus center is less than $33. Tried MSC and Northern Tool...no luck.

Why not call LoveJoy? Tell them where you reside. Ask them for the names of all the suppliers in your area. Ask them if there is a major on-line store that stocks and sells large quantities of the L-099 Series.

That coupler model is still shown in LoveJoy's on-line catalogue. The local power transmission guy is just jacking you because you are not a business and he's protecting his customers.

Did not actually check but McMaster-Carr is always worth a look. JMO
Hi guys, I have that catalog on my 'puter...it is last years 2010. I have sent an email to Lovejoy asking about this. Will email surplus center too...they have by far the cheapest prices. What do you think about the length of the L-100 series?
Check at Princess Auto I bought a one for my log splitter two months ago.

The length could be a problem because the engine shaft is already pretty short as is the pump shaft. You would have to put spacers on to move the mounting bracket further from the engine then it probably wouldn't fit in the space available. Much better to get the correct part.
