Well, this is a new one to me. I've had my 446 4 years and use it mainly for "casting" snow with no problems......till now. For some reason my clutch seems to slip under heavy snow blowing conditions. I tried it again today and was able to rule out a slipping V belt by adding a bungee strap to the spring making sure the belt was tight, but it still slips. Is there a way to adjust the PTO to make it tighter? I see where the PTO clutch is up in front of the fan and can follow the linkage back to the handle but see no way to adjust it.
HELP! There's more snow in the forecast for this week and now I am totally spoiled by being able to move a 4 foot swath each pass with my old 446. Showing off my huge plume of snow was one of my highlights to each snow fall we during the winter.
Thank You in advance for your help.:fingerscrossed: Nick Danger, Toledo Ohio.

Well aboard Nick !!! Great to have you here. Yes there is an adjustment for the clutch. Rather than me tell you something wrong, others will chime in or there is some good informative videos on YouTube. I ran into the same problem with my 448 yesterday. The first snowfall of 5"s I used it on went great, but yesterday the handle kept wanting to slide back and disengage the clutch. I don't recommend it for safety reasons to apply a bungee, but it's what I had to do also. Hopefully get it straightened out this week.

Nick,

Take a look at this manual on the front PTO. It's pretty straightforward and should be able to help you remedy the problem you described.

Actual that manual is for the older shim adjust clutch. All of my 78's (4) have the EZ Adjust clutch. This link shows two manuals for the EZ Adjust clutch's.

If you do have the EZ Adjust Clutch there was a pair of Youtube videos that really helped me be sure I understood the adjustment and assembly when I did mine for the first time last year. I can't post the links but if you search "Case Ingersoll EZ adjust PTO clutch explained" you should find a couple by "Jimtoledo"
