I have a Case 222 I believe it’s a 77, the splines on the I believe are hi/low gears are broke which was causing the rear wheel to lock up. I have the rear end completely torn off and can not find the gears anywhere. I did find a case 446 1978 I was wondering if the rear ends would swap out between the two? I found a rear end on eBay for 350.00 and the other tractor is 400.00 with a bad motor just need some guidance if anybody could help me. I’ve been researching trying to see if I could possibly do either the rear swap or a motor swap if I bought the other tractor. Thanks in advance for any help!! From Michigan.

Yes, effectively any 200 or 400 series transaxle can be salvaged or swapped in.

You will want to use the motor from a 200 series, as the motor internal sizing is a bit different for correct ground speeds. You should just be able to swap in the motor from your tractor to whatever you are able to locate.

Depending on where you are in Michigan, Dan is a good resource for a complete rear end.

If you don't find one nearby lsend me an email. Shipping a complete unit is expensive, but gears can go USPS Priority. I should have most any internal part you may need. Well, except for the long bolts, I recommend always changing those for new anytime it is taken apart.

location is Greenville/ Gowen area, I will give Dan a call today. I thought the same thing about the eBay rear end 350.00 is way too much. Thanks for the advice!!
