Hi, I'm just joining the forum from Lexington, KY. I have been looking for a tractor to mow my lawn for a few months and have looked at a few. This past weekend, I called about a listing on Craigslist for a 446, but it was sold. The seller had a friend who had a 444 for sale and I went to look at it on Sunday. It is an early 70's 444 in great shape! I arranged to purchase it and will get it this weekend. I also also arranged to purchase a snowblower from the original lister. I once owned an old Simplicity tractor which was very good, and I have looked at some Gravely tractors, but I think the Case tractor is better made than both of those. I look forward to getting and using the Case. My brother in Nashville recently purchased a Case and joined the forum, so I guess it's a family affair. I look forward to being part of this forum. I have already found a lot of good information here. Hopefully, I may be able to contribute from time to time. Wade

Wade: Welcome to the site!   We're glad you joined! :usa: :usa: :usa: Congratulations on the soon to be 444! Just some housekeeping stuff to share. At the top of this forum is a "STICKY MESSAGE" with the title "How to get the best out of this site."

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4550

It is in your best interest to read that message prior to posting on the site for the following reasons.

1. We do things a little bit differently here and the message will explain how this forum works so that you will not run into problems navigating the site.

2. It points out features on the site that would otherwise take you months to realize are there. Knowing where to find those features, often keeps new members from asking unnecessary questions and instead, allows them to focus on obtaining more important information about their tractor.

3. One of our leaders is Hilda and she gets a little excited when people don't read that Sticky. Can you blame her? After all, she has spent countless hours working with the Team here to put this site together for the members and all she asks is a few minutes of your time to read a message. But relax. It's all in good fun and we usually have Hilda on a tight leash.

So.... please.... go and read the Sticky and then explore the site.
We look forward to talking with you on the site! :usa: :usa: :usa: :usa: :usa:

:222: :446: Best Regards, Rich

Thanks for the warm welcome to the site. I have already gotten valuable info from a posting in another area of the site. I did read the sticky with the rules, sorry I didn't do that first, hope I didn't violate any major rules. One general question that I thought of regards whether it is OK to refer to adds that you see on Craigslist, etc. I didn't really see anything that prohibited that, but I know of other sites where that is frowned upon. I know tht if I were looking for a specific tractor or accessory, I would appreciate a heads up if someone saw one but wasn't personally interested. I look forward to hearing if this is an acceptable practice.

Thanks again for the welcome.

Wade,
Take a look in our "Classifieds" forum. Unlike other sites, we welcome ads from Craigslist, e-Bay, Uncle Henry's, Kijiji and similar entities. Please read the STICKY at the top of that forum for a full understanding. At the top of that forum, you will find "Tractor Cupid" and that thread shows all of the members who benefited from those listings by ending up with what was advertised. Not only that but that forum teaches our members a lot of stuff about these tractors including some rough values on what things are worth.

Oh......and on this site......we don't kick your ass for breaking rules. We just send you a PM to explain the rule you broke and ask you not to do it again. You aren't perfect....we aren't perfect. All we can do is to try doing our best.
