Hi Troops,
I broke a throttle cable a while back on my 1990 4018 and found out some things that I didn't know.
1. 4000 and possibly 3000 series tractors have a throttle lever that has a full throttle detent.
2. The throttle lever assembly has a 1/4" rivet so a 1/4" bolt and locknut can be installed to have adjustable throttle friction. Where the rivet is peened, the plate has a 3/16" hole which needs to be drilled to 1/4" before the bolt can be installed.
3. Adjust the throttle cable at full throttle on both the lever and engine so the detent can be utilized. Make this adjustment where the cable casing is secured to the engine. Idle position will be where it happens to be.
4. The new egg shaped choke and throttle knobs have a removable end. This can be carefully pryed off and using pliers, the retaining clip can be removed to release the rest of the knob. nice to know that they can be reused.
Bob MacGregor in CT :winterrules: But not for long!!! I hope!!!!
