The steering gear and shaft are no longer engaged. The washer on the bottom of the gear disappeared leaving about a half inch of play between the shaft and gear. The parts list it just says washer, anything special as far as what they are made of?
I will have to go through the steering and front end eventually, but I have to get this garden in!

Paul,
On the steering gear, there are "shim washers" of varying thicknesses and a hardened washer that goes under the retaining bolt. What is the PIN of your tractor so I can see which set up you have?

Problem resolved. I was too tired and the black flies were wicked yesterday. On closer inspection the bolt had loosened. Cranked it back tight and I'm good to go. Teeth on the shaft are a little worn so will have to address that when I get a chance. Thanks for the reply.
