I’m just curious , if I don’t paint my 446 back to original colors will I be kicked out of the forum ?? Lol. I would like to paint my 446 but I notice everyone goes With the original colors?? Does nobody out there feel that they’re are unique? Must we all paint our tractors back to original? Has anyone seen any case that doesn’t follow the red orange or cream paint scheme? I just have a good feeling that when I’m ready my 446 will be a unique color.

You only think you will be kicked out!!!??? We WILL hunt you down and torch your garage/shop! Just kidding. I have seen some really nice antique pulling tractors that have been painted a different shade of color than the factory, and WOW, some of today's metallics really show up nice! One should also consider how the decal's colors will look/contrast the the paint shade you choose. Just DON'T try and paint it in another company's hues! Looks really bad and if you try to make it JD green and yellow don't be surprised if your house catches fire too some night!:sidelaugh::wink::canada:

It's your tractor so do what you want.

It's just paint. If someone else down the line wanted to, they could strip it off and repaint it.

(But please try at all costs to resist the urge to paint it green and yellow - that's just plain wrong  )

When it comes to paint, there are a lot of pro's & con's and different ideas. We prefer to keep all our tractors as close to original, but this is us.We also prefer to use Case-IH paint, the power red is $10 per spray can, not the cheapest paint, but we think the very best. just our two cents worth, Bill,Barneveld Imp. 608-924-1662

While I'm one of those that prefer the original pair schemes or at least in the same family, I'm not a purist by any means and do appreciate some artistic license.

BUT PLEASE DON'T PAINT IT GREEN AND YELLOW. Or colors that mimic any other brand for that matter. Any customized machine should reflect it's heritage, not look like you're trying to hide what it is.

Hey I say do what you want. Just make it look good. If it's in good shape to begin with, restore it.

When you pull a blown up dilapidated pile out of a collapsed barn, find a use for it.

I would say from mild to wild it's up to you. Just don't paint it and try to masquerade as some other make of tractor. That makes people say what were they thinking.
I would try to make others say, "why didn't I think of that!"

Yes I deffinetly won’t be trying to make it mimic a Deere ... if I wanted one of those I would have bought one. I just like to be different sometimes and cone from a background of atv, dirt bike, motorcycle all my life. With those you tend to custom color them. I was just curious as I have never seen any pics besides the factory colors. In my mind I was thinking black frame black rims and everything else a some what lime green. I’ve just always liked this combination and was looking at the tractor the other night picturing what it would look like and what I would paint black and what I would paint line green. Still not sure if I’m going to go for it though. Was just seeing if any pictures of custom tractors would pop up that we’re hiding in fear lol

A Kawasaki Case. I would be sure of myself about the black rims as they make up a large part of the tractor when viewed from the side. You don't want your machine to look like it has on it's "winter beater" wheels. Black Centers and silver rims would be cool though. DO keep us posted on your progress!!!:thumbup:

My 4016 might get some rattle can preventative paint this summer.

As for my ground up mod restore on my 444? Probably original paint scheme since I have the original in Quarts. Only because I like the Sunset against the Red.

In the end ..... enjoy your colors and your tractor.

You can also do nothing! My 78, 222 sat outside for 20 years, maybe more from the PO and other than surface rust is in solid shape. I prefer to use my case so I expect scratches and dings to happen, and it would just be a waist of time and money to paint for me. My Case has at least another 40 years to go before its ready for that restoration paint job!
