Wish I could answer that, never got to talk to the owner.Gordy man, way cool!!! Question. Why such a wide track? The machine will tend to pull straighter and be easier to correct if the wheels are as close together as possible.
Thanks!!!Yeah, he wants a set of 9.50 x16 on there.. I told him when he buys them, he can have at it!! :raspberry:Friggin' gorgeous! You know,,,, some Carlisle Tru-powers would really set it off,,,,,,:gums:
I share a similar sentiment. My 4016 has faded to a pink outside but is an incredibly rugged, well designed and built workhorse. I am more inclined to use it then polish it. I do keep it in the garage. To date it has 135 original hours on the original engine. It doesn't have even a drip of a leak anywhere on the machine. When I first got the tractor I went over every thing with a fine tooth comb. You can also do nothing! My 78, 222 sat outside for 20 years, maybe more from the PO and other than surface rust is in solid shape. I prefer to use my case so I expect scratches and dings to happen, and it would just be a waist of time and money to paint for me. My Case has at least another 40 years to go before its ready for that restoration paint job!

I have used this with good success; I also used the rustoleum primer for rusty metal with a light sanding (400 grit) after priming. In the non-purist category, I use rattle can paints that are 'close' to factory like: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Ole...ve-Enamel-Spray-Paint-6-Pack-250704/204583904
the one rim on 646, which is a '73 color scheme of power red and sunset yellow, had no paint on it, so it got cleaned up, put rusty metal primer on it and rattle can that was very close match to power red.. And its HARD to tell the difference.. Most likely because the old paint has faded..
That's the scheme I'm looking at for my 646. Flambeau Red & Federal Yellow never appeared on the Big Boys. I've always admired small tractors that look like big tractors, like the CaseIH 234/235/244/245 line, so this summer we're going Power Red and Power White. (White lift arms, red bucket...)View attachment 84849 Here is another paint scheme that "works" with the Case family............ My son's customized 210... Painted power white and power red.. Dave
Just a heads up. Case, Colt and Ingersoll tractors were never made by or part of IR. Probably a good thing too in a way considering the chinese junk being sold by the company nowadays in their reciprocating compressor line and some of their tools. That’s the beauty of sand paper lol. I have a Ingersoll 4018 that will get a repaint sometime and I thought about doing it in Ingersoll Rand colors. Like the dark grey and red maybe. Like the tools
I've been to a car show and met a guy that just clear coated his old square body Chevy truck he had in the show without fixing the rust and flaky paint and such, the thing was probably 5 or 6 different colors. He said "It took 40 years for it to look like this so why would I change it?". Definitely a mentality I consider when finishing out a project now.You can also do nothing! I am well aware of that. They make good air compressors I can attest to that. The factory I was in maintenance in for 10 years and a 3 compressor module running Ingersoll. It wasn’t the brand I was trying to follow. I like their older air tools that was a dark grey with red lettering. Now it’s a blue color and red lettering. Easy killerJust a heads up. Years ago at a tractor show, there was a JD-A painted Farmall red. The sign hanging on the tractor said "Sorry guy's the green paint was just too expensive"Sorry but I must admit I am at a loss here? Anyone can paint their GT's any color they want! The question though is whether you want to keep the tradition of painting it to authentic colors? The first question says just do you own thing and paint it pink yellow or even green and yellow. The second asks the hard question" do AI keep it authentic" If it's the first just go for it, but never, ever, bring t to this forums attention again!!! If you really want to stay focused though you need to follow case approved colors and advise..
