That tractor looks like it hasn't done much work so I'd be tempted to take a look if it were nearby. Who knows how much he will take for it if you show up with a trailer? One question is why he says it has an 18 hp engine in a 446? Could be a repower or just incorrect info.

Talked to the owner a couple hours ago. Doesn't know the year but I can get the SN from him tomorrow PM when he is home. 46" deck. Charging problem is a bad rectifier. He was mistaken on the HP, it is the original Onan. Says its in good shape and the price is firm. He has had calls on it and was helpful.

It appears to be a 1987. That makes it 24 model years old. Assuming that I believe him about getting calls on it, no one has rushed to his home waving a fist full of Benji's. Everyone is "firm" until such time as they don't have a buyer. That's when the price slides. Hey...if he manages to find someone to pay that kind of loot for a PA 446, then good for him. We'll see how long it stays listed.

I agree, overall, that chassis looks to be in pretty good shape. Still has the shorter fenders too (looks alot like my '86). Best of all, it doesn't have that "rode hard, put away wet" look to it, that you see from so many other listings! Like the looks, but price does seem high.

One issue (though it's hard to tell from the resolution of the photos and it might be my imagination) is it doesn't look like there is any engine tin covering the left hand side (oil filter side) head. Not a big thing, he may have it, if not can be replaced, but just noticed it.

One pet peeve, if you honestly know for sure that it doesn't charge (or sometimes charges?) due to a "bad rectifier"... then just fix it and replace the faulty rectifier. Then sell it as a tractor with no known mechanical issues! Typically, when any kind of rectifier fails, it fails. Grounds can float and connections can break, but a failed rectifier doesn't decide to sometimes work again.
