Was thinking of a cheap alternative to an EZ Adjust Clutch. I have the 'intermediate' style shim-adjust clutch with the shorter spacer at the forward end of the snap-ring groove shaft. I was thinking about turning a new spacer that is threaded and using a threaded two-piece (lockable) shaft collar which could snug up everything (except fan) to the friction plate. Anyone tried something like this before?

i would use the shim adjust as it was designed.
as it is i take my E/Z apart every three years. (to clean and lube)
SO i have no real benefit in the E/Z clutch.
thank you. boomer(the used onan parts guy)
