I just purchased a 448 and know I got a deal but am curious how good of a deal I really got.

1) 448 serial # 9774293 (1980?)
18hp Onan is currently pulled and partially rebuilt (I can finish and reinstall no prob)

2) 48" mower deck (J46)
3) 41' side drive rear tiller (K74) 'White - 1984?'
4) 3pt hitch w/drawbar
5) + extra drawbar w/trailer ball
6) Rear PTO
7) 48" snocaster (L84)
8) Chains
9) Leaf vac tow behind cart (cart only)
10) Plus a spare Onan 18hp. Told it is in good running condition with good compression and that it is setup for propane (not sure how to verify this is setup for propane or if there really is a difference)
11) Several manuals

Condition on everything I'd rate as good condition, some minor rust, faded paint and some minor dings so definitely not perfect, but in really good shape for 30+years old.
Sorry no pics, I'm going back with trailer tomorrow to pick it all up.

Grand total paid: $1,000

I'm really curious what the spare onan on propane is worth.

Thanks for your help.

2) 48" mower deck Deck $150.00
3) 41' side drive rear tiller (White - 1984?) Tiller value...... $400.00
4) 3pt hitch w/drawbar 3 pt. value ......$400.00 to $450.00
Sleeve Hitch adapter to mount tiller...... $150.00
5) + extra drawbar w/trailer ball . 2nd SH adapter ......... $150.00
6) Rear PTO Rear PTO kit ............... $150.00
7) 48" snocaster Snowcaster .................. $350.00
8) Chains Chains ...........................$ 50.00
9) Leaf vac tow behind cart (cart only) 1000 LB Dump Cart....... $300.00
10) Plus a spare Onan 18hp. Told it is in good running condition with good compression and that it is setup for propane (not sure how to verify this is setup for propane or if there really is a difference)If the engine is configured to run on propane, then it won't have a standard carb on it. It will have some sort of propane style carb. No float bowl is needed. No fuel pump is needed. Propane is in a gaseous state when it reaches the special carb. A good running Onan should be worth $400.00 minimum any day.

I didn't value the tractor because the engine is not in it. However, any complete 448 is worth at least $300.00 even if it is not running. You picked up a nice package for a very low cost. Enjoy it.

Wow  I thought it was a good deal, didn't realize how good and am truly glad I didn't pass this one up and really glad the guy before me said he'd be back and didn't leave a deposit.

Road trip to haul home; less than 8 miles ... Round trip. Priceless!

Thank you for the info!

We're going to need pics.
Here's a quick pic.
I didn't have enough room to bring the leaf vac trailer home so I'm off for the long haul (4 miles) to go back and get it. "No man left behind" or in this situation, "No Case part left behind!".

I got a slew of extra parts too that he hadn't told me about, deal just keeps getting better.

No carb on the backup Onan so the propane deal must have been a dream upgrade PO was going to do. None the less it turns over by hand great and appears to have solid compression. Deck is solid but abused so will need a little TLC. Everything else just needs a good bath!

Yes, that is an 87' 444 peaking out of the garage checking out the new kid in the yard.

Oh and I tried the "It's easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission" and the wife ain't buyin' it so I guess I'll be in the garage all night tonight with the new 448

If she is like most women, her closet will contain quite a few purses, dresses, coats, hats and shoes. The truth is... she can only wear one dress, one hat, one pair of shoes at a time. There is no real justification for redundancy in clothing other than pure VANITY. If she doubts that, then it is time to take her to the nearest Amish or Mennonite community and get a close up view of how these fine folks dress. :sidelaugh:

Tom not married?

I stay away from the 'needs' argument. It always backfires on me cause nobody 'needs' more than one tractor and nobody 'needs' to get laid every day. My wife once told me that she HAD to have all the clothes and crap cause women were 'expected' to have all of that - you know, SOCIETY places that burden on women to look good all the time.

I have two boys who cut grass :mowlawn: so I NEED to have two tractors, actually I need a third one for me? :446: :446: :446:  ...of course this won't matter to her, I have one too many now in her eyes.
