Yes it should lock in with a firm "snap" if it doesn't it could just need an adjustment or worst case you may have some worn parts, washers, springs, or friction disc.
Yes, it should sort of snap in. Most likely your clutch simply needs to be adjusted properly as described in the clutch adjustment manual. This manual is not yet in the tech section though I'm sure Tom is working feverishly to make that happen. In the meantime if you PM me with your email address I can email you a copy.
