Rpms

I've given it a lot of thought, and to me a tachometer isn't terribly useful: You manually set the engine to run at 3600rpm at full throttle, and from there you either run the engine at idle, at full throttle 3600, or throttled down to whatever speed you need for the purpose. But a readout/indicator telling you the rpm's isn't terribly useful, at least to my mind.

I do have plans to install a fuel gauge, and have already bought the sender and gauge.

But in addtion I've considered installing one of these:

I'd hook up "oil pressure" to engine oil pressure, hook up "temperature" to a sensor inserted in the hydraulic reservoir, hook up "fuel" to the new sender in the fuel tank, and hook up "volts" to the battery.

Those would at least give you meaningful data that you might actually want or need to respond to.

I included an rpm gauge to my "dash". In keeping with my chicrap free mandate for this rebuild, and wanting a gauge that would look period correct [1980] I found a US company called Speedhut. Pick your style/size/font/# impulses per rev/needle color/gauge color ect, and in a couple of weeks a package arrives. Works flawlessly.

No, these are the stock size. I was trying to emulate what Case would have done if they had built a "deluxe model". I had a hell of a time getting these to fit as it is, as there is really no room behind the dash as the battery is right there too! Here's a pic of the dash before the final product.
