Show Season

Yes I know. We are barely one week into the New Year but as you know, time moves faster than we'd like it to. Before you know it, the show season will be in full swing.

I thought that I'd mention the one show that has all the ear-markings of becoming the premier spot for the brands we love. That would be Dan Haas' ALL Colt, All Case, All Ingersoll show in Rockford, Illinois. I believe that the scheduled date is August 27th.

Last year, there was a huge turnout considering it was the inaugural year. Dan arranged for Jeff Wright to be in attendance. Jeff is VP of Marketing for all of Eastman's products including the Ingersoll tractor line. It's also my understanding that Jeff is going to try his best to be at the show this year too.

For those who did not make last years show, there were three experimental tractors in attendance. These were test beds for some new ideas. Kind of like the concept cars you see at auto shows. I know that it seems like a long way off but the sooner you know about an event like this, the sooner you can lay down plans for it. Accommodation is always key for those who cannot make this a day trip.

There are some Youtube videos for those who would like to catch a glimpse of the show last year. I don't know if Dan has created a website as of yet. I'm going to put mention of this into our Events Bulletin Board just as soon as I get more info. But in the meantime, it doesn't hurt to chat about it.

Dan mentioned to me (in my One phone conversation I had with him) that this year he is working on having a crew from RFDtv sometime during the show to produce a piece about it for future broadcast.

(if anyone is still looking for that elusive 15 minutes Andy Warhol talked about, here's your chance... )

For those of you who don't know, RFDtv is a great channel (satellite, not sure about cable) that highlights country living with great shows about classic tractors and farm news and happenings.

Personal differences aside, I think it is great of you to mention the event and share info about it on the forum.
Tom, I will make the trip if you bring all your tractors to the show

Drew.
This forum is about bringing the best information out there....... here for all the members to see and judge for themselves.

I am not one to allow some petty differences between Dan and myself to get in the way of the best interests of this site and the membership.

At this time, attending that show is out of the question for me but thanks for asking.

  just busting your chops. Thats a long haul for me too.
There was an amazing turnout last year--even my old cousin Stewart made the trip from Saskatchewan taking top honors for the longest trip I believe. The people who knew about it and didn't make it are still kicking themselves in the butt.

Aside from all the neat tractors on display, your truly intends to be there to wow the crowds! And there could be a surprise guest.....

Actually Tom, I was talking about my personal differences.... it's not ALL about you ya know? :sidelaugh:

I agree, it's what is best for the hobby and the group.

The pics and video from last year were great, if there is any way I can swing it I might try to get there.
I wish I had been able to attend, heck it would have been worth it just to see Herm's 190 trencher. Drew, I agree with you about RFD-TV. The programming is great...tractor pulling, Classic Tractor Fever, Texas Country Reporter (think Charles Kuralt within the borders of Texas), Porter Waggoner Show, Hee Haw, The Wilburn Brothers Show, The Marty Stuart Show, Tru Country, In The Bunkhouse with Red Steagal, I Love Toy Trains, Vintage Country Ways, Successful Farming's Machinery Show, rodeo, and don't forget they did for Rose Parade broadcasting what Fox Sports did for NASCAR broadcasts thanks to Pam Minnick and Orion Samuelson. I can't wait to see their coverage of the Cherry Valley Show, as I'm sure they will do justice for the show.

You were correct on my award for a short time. Dan awarded me the longest traveler and when i got home I was reading about some GLC from Texas that was hauling home his new purchase. I did a Mapquest for Houston and found that Galen had traveled 25 miles more so I returned it to Dan and I believe that Dan gave it to Galen for the 2009 Cherry Valley Show . If I go this year I'm going to leave from my cabin( extra 400 Miles)
Galen's a member of this group and has stated he is not attending. But theirs word out that the other Scot may be coming from the east coast. LOL

It's the best Tractor Show that I've seen and it's also the first. :sidelaugh: :sidelaugh:

Lots of very fine tractors and lots of good people. It's a beautiful park that it was held in.

Very Enjoyable. When I get my photobucket going I'll add a couple pics even though there is a million on various sites.

Stewart
HIIGHJACK: If anyone is aware of any other upcoming G/T gatherings, please post in the events section or reply here.
Doesn`t have to be an all C/I event, just hopefully closer ( OH/PA) than Rockford. T.I.A.
Darren had the best collection of photos that I saw. I hope no one minds, but I'll link his pics here:

Also, Jason shot some GREAT Videos. I'll link a couple of them here:

No matter who wins the award this year it will be a Scot!

I hope they have the Highland Games going on at the same time next year as that is a bonus for anyone interested in manly sports.
Dan has one show under his belt and he's in the planning stages of the second one. I say: Good for him. However, in my opinion, he would be wise to enlist Brent's help right now in putting together a dedicated site on the internet for the show. It's not a tough thing to do. From that point, we could just point our members to Dan's URL so that they could get all the information.

He could list all the activities for each day, show dates, opening/closing times, Nearby accommodation, points of local interest, directions to get there etc etc. All they have to do is look at what other shows provide and emulate it.

No one can ignore the power of the internet today so it surprises me that Dan has not done this. There is very little in the way of details on his forum about the show either.

I was just looking at videos from that show yesterday on YouTube. There are some super nice tractors there.
