I have a feeling we did so I have this burning desire to make amends. :sidelaugh: :sidelaugh:

dbeiter's snowcaster at $350.00 is a bargain IMO, for anyone with a 4 digit tractor because an SB48 often brings upwards of $600.00. Why? Because you just don't see that many of those in the used marketplace. Therefore, demand dictates price.

OK....your right...he isn't selling an SB-48. He's selling a converted letter blower. My reply is "So what?" An SB-48 isn't a superior design. All Ingersoll did was to take a S-84 and redesign the mule drive for the backward engine and then slap a new label on it with the SB designation.

The kit to convert a letter blower to a SB is $500.00 on it's own. Now....you want to come along and convert it back to a letter blower. To Bart and I, that makes little sense. You should be able to find a letter blower out there for the same kind of money and not have to touch it. In other words, why make life tougher than it has to be?

Not sure if it matters to you but I am using an SB38 with wings on my 86 and 78 Case tractors. The blower and mule drive were bought brand new back in 03 or so and I think my father paid just about $1,000 for everything. He also got some extra parts that I ended up selling a few months ago and made some good money on them. Here is what an SB model looks like when designed to work on the older tractors.

Tom, I am suprised that you think my blower is a bargain... I have gotten NO serious hits on it either from here or on Craigslist....

Haven't you heard? Nobody takes much notice of my opinions. :sidelaugh: :sidelaugh: :sidelaugh: :sidelaugh:

All I can say is that I have seen several SB48's sell for $500.00 and up on e-Bay and even those are a deal. A new one likely has an MSRP three times that amount at minimum.

Blowers are simple to work on and not expensive to repair. No one should care that your blower did not begin life as a SB48. It will do the same job as a SB48.

Don't let the shipping aspect stop you. I've shipped two of them. Just find a 4ft square skid and then strap it down tightly. Used skids can be had for no cost if you look for them. The shipping company will often let you use their banding equipment to snug 'er down when you bring it to them.

Not really.

Once you've done it, you'll wonder why you thought it was a big deal.

The key is to work closely with the shipping company and get them to help you out as much as possible with advance information so you make ONE trip to their freight yard to drop it off.
