That's a confusing ad and there are many unanswered questions.

- did this tractor get a Vanguard transplant?

- if so, was an electric clutch installed?

- why is there no deck?

- what's up with the blade description?

Case never made a "six position" blade nor did they make a power angle blade. Power lift...yes.

The asking price is seemingly quite reasonable but what are you actually getting for your money?

Already contacted the seller, they sent me a picture but didn't answer any of my questions about the engine/serial number but did confirm that it had no deck.

I pretty sure it's a 446 since someone put the 446 on the hood..... :)

Here's the GT:

Tires look good.

I would jump on this but the engine scares me and I pretty sure there's no front PTO so mowing would be out of the question.

Blade doesn't look like anything too special and I think that's some chain or weight hanging off the front, seller didn't want to sell blade without the tractor which is what I'm interested in the most.

What is that above the right foot rest?

If that's a current picture, that's not a V-Twin Vanguard engine. Could it be a Onan Preformer? I've blown it up as far as I can and I can't make out what it says on the shroud.

As far as what's above the foot rest, I have no clue. :wtf:

I've blown it up too.

No clue on what that thing is on the side

Engine appears to be B&S flat twin

There's no front clutch and it would likely take some doing to put one there.

The blade is an H model with a homemade lift arm.

Yes, those are some weights hanging off the blade. Why? Who knows. I've used weights like that on sliding fire doors in factories. They are slotted to stack on a length of flat bar.

The asking price is still not unreasonable. The blade is worth $150.00, it looks like the front tires are fairly new. The rest of the tractor could be parted out if need be. Essentially, because of this stupid engine swap, the tractor is only good for pushing or pulling. There's a usable tractor there but since you can't blow snow or cut grass, the uses are reduced dramatically.

Put a cab on it and weight it up. Make a dedicated plow tractor. Other than that, part it out. End up with a free blade, new tires etc. No matter what, it would be hard to go wrong.

I wish the seller would get back with me, once I started asking about the engine and he appears to have gone silent. Asked for more information as if I go down to Springfield MO area to look at it, chances are I will buy it!

Might not be too bad esp since it has a blade that I'm looking for.

The engine has me curious in a positive way, any possiblibity it's something other than a Brigg engine? Might be a Briggs as described, since the exhaust has elbow in the pipe and that doesn't match any Onan's that I know but I know hardly nothing about them.
