While disassembling my Kohler 220 motor. I removed the Kohler 10hp shroud only to find K301 on the engine block. So I guess it is a 12hp in disguise. Just one more surprise on this frankinstine tractor I picked up. Good news is I dropped the block off for a rebuild and they can start in March. Sheesh. Got plenty of time to clean the three inches of oil grunge off everything else .

You probably need to actually measure the bore before considering this engine a K301, Kohler often used the same casting for each of these engines. The K241 is a 3.25" bore and the K301 is 3.375. The block casting could be finished to either dimension.

I agree with Bob. I have seen engines stamped 301 when by fact they were 241's Its not un common
