That does seem like a pretty good deal.

I bought this tractor. J40 deck (very noisy) is now is in the process of disassembly. Pully shafts soaking in PB Blaster. I was able to get a better price. My first Case.
Congrats on your purchase Jeff. Looks like a nice unit.

Another entry for tractorcupid.com!
Yes, those pulleys can be a bite.......... you will probably end up buying new ones anyway, so give em heck!!! Nice tractor, good buy!!
Re: SW Mich 210 acquisition/deck issues.

Left pulley is off, and it does not look like a survivor (bent). Even the key is still stuck in the spindle shaft. The center pulley is the double pulley and appears to be cast. (Does that mean $$$$?). Still soaking in PB Blaster. May wait a little longer and get a bigger torch. My neighbor with the the Ox/Act torch is on vacation. He also has a air hammer so I'm limited right now. The deck rear wheels are toast as are the shoulder bolts. The spacer for the idler pulley has gone missing so that pivot bolt is way loose. I haven't seen the spindles or bearing yet but the center spindle is real wobbley and noisy so this may be a complete repair. Will need to find parts but I am waiting to determine what is needed at the end of the tear down.

Thanks for the encouragment and welcome posts.
I had a key that wouldn't come out once. I ended up drilling several holes in the key to hollow out its center, then collapsed it inward on itself with a chisel, releasing it from the spindle. Took a little work, but those spindles are getting pricey. Hope this helps,
John
The deck is apart and I am awaiting bearings/pulleys (3) and new idler pulley, wheels and shoulder bolts. I need to clean up the spindles before reinstall.

Thanks for all the comments and encouragment.
It may be tuff going at first, but after you get it rebuilt and see how well it works, you'll be very pleased!
Regards,
Nolan

I hope that you took a hard look at the tensioning spring for the deck belt to make sure it is not stretched out. Also, make sure that the arm the belt idler is bolted to is able to swing freely. Clean up any rust on that pivot and then coat it liberally with anti-seize compound.
