I was very surprised when I discovered mine were pipes and not rods. Is it possible the thinner ones were solid and later changed to tubing? Can't tell from a part number if it's hollow or not.

edit to add: Mine is an '83

I quit lifting the front ends with the tie rod once the ball joint popped off just as I straightend out........... the dang thing nearly broke my foot.......... :sidelaugh: :sidelaugh:

No way I'd lift mine if I didnt have to. I just turn my 444 all the way to the right and while sitting on a large piece of heavy cardboard weasel it in place from the left hand side.
Engine hoist works quite well... just hook a couple of chains to the snap fast pins and lift away...
