During the later years Ingersoll swapped the PTO hardlines for hoses where they come through the floorboard on the under-seat setups.

The PSA is that I've noticed the past couple PTO tractors I've worked on (OEM PTO even, not just a shoddy customer install) have had this hose rubbing on the floorboard where it passes through, cutting into the hose. It's a bit tricky to get to a perfect location where it doesn't vibrate on the seat support and also doesn't touch the floorboard, but it's possible. You can see here where the hose has chafed, but it's now adjusted away from the floorboard and with clearance to the seat tower.

Might be worth checking for anyone with a later model PTO. That's the full flow directly off the hydraulic pump so it'd make a heck of a mess if it cut through haha.

Your post caused me to take the cover off mine and take a look. It's been years since I last had the cover off.
Mine has a protective piece of rubber wrapped around the hose where it passes through the floor. I don't actually remember putting it on the hose but I probably did after I found this to be rubbing there, smashed up against the floor like it is.

This is an Eastman produced 4223 originally purchased in 2007 by the owner before me. No parts diagrams for this tractor.
I will have to see if the older OEM setup with an elbow fitting on that hose would work. Not leaking but I believe I have otherwise replaced all of the other hoses.

Fwiw the photo I posted of my HP34A example was also on an Eastman 4223 from ~06-07 so I'm confident the hose with a 90deg fitting would work on yours.

In the meantime it looks like your hose shield fix will give you plenty of time before it wears through though!
