Headlight Flicker (different thread)

Didn't want to hijack the other thread.

One of mine, has a headlight flicker too but not because of an electric fuel pump. Pretty sure its a poor ground.

The lights are grounded to the hood and the screws strip out easily. The hood is attacked via a rod at the hinge and the only one I've ever taken out was badly rusted. Add to that, that the hot wire, suffers extreme heat stress. Its a wonder the lights work reliably at all.

Gordy had a good idea to verify a grounding issue.

"Just for grins and chuckles try running a wire from the head light buckets to battery neg, see if that makes any difference with direct ground."

Anyway, f
or me, its on the "one of these days" lists but a new hot wire and an aux ground to the frame, seems a worthy task. Just gotta think about it other than when you need the lights and have deal yet once again, with that annoying flicker.

Possibly but not guaranteed, My issue was the screws that hold the light buckets to the hood had rusted, and prevented a connection to ground. I have seen wires and/or spade terminals soldered to the back of the buckets, then run to a good solid ground, as the best way to bypass most weak spots in the grounding system.
